Burundian Perspectives
PHOTOGRAPHIC PROJECT
The Burundikids e.V. team selected 26 images for this exhibition. The project consists of two parts: the colour photographs were taken in the mother-and-child home, while the black-and-white images were taken in the street children’s home.
The ‘Burundian Perspectives’ project gave people in Burundi the opportunity to capture their everyday lives on camera and share their view of the world with others. After a brief introduction to using disposable cameras, the Burundians were free to take photographs without any guidelines or restrictions.
The resulting images reflect personal impressions, joie de vivre and challenges. They not only promote creativity and artistic expression, but also strengthen the self-confidence of the young photographers.
The exhibition provides an insight into the lives of young people in Burundi, inviting intercultural dialogue and promoting a deeper understanding of their realities. In this way, the pictures can help to foster exchange and solidarity.
