Gitega is the second largest city in Burundi, and it is here that a large majority of the refugees returning from Tanzania are to make their home. A school and training centre, primarily for teaching trades, is to be built here under the direction of Verena Stamm. The reason for teaching trades is that because of the vast number of people settling in the area, there will be a lot of construction, meaning that there will be greater demand for qualified tradesmen. burundikids e.V. supported this project by contributing €3,500 to defray the costs of the first stage of construction.
