In 2000, as one of her first projects, Verena Stamm (Fondation Stamm) established the children's home for children who had lost either one or both of their parents. 65 boys and girls aged between 3 and 20 now call this place their home. All children aged six years and above attend a government school. The home is financed by Human Help Network.
burundikids e.V. has provided support to the children's home since 2003 by donating food and other items (primarily clothing but also necessities and toys).
Since 2006 burundikids e.V. sends trainees for social work to several institutions of the Fondation Stamm. Although the volunteers live together with the orphans in the children's home, they are involved in all projects of Fondation Stamm. Among their practical work the volunteers support the traumatized children in a mental and uplifting way. Read about volunteer Claire's impressions and experiences in her blog.
